Class Four
25Jun09
In-class journal:
- For the next 3-5 minutes, I want you to go over your draft for today and underline those lines that you think are most important. What are the most important things that you are saying in this paper?
- In your journal, I want you to create an assessment of your current draft. Begin by describing when and where you wrote it. What were the conditions like while you were writing? Use good sensory details to describe the setting and environment of your writing to me. (10 mins).
- For the next 10 minutes, I want you to reflect on what you are happiest with in this draft? Why? Do you think your success in this area may relate to how, where, and when you wrote it? Now focus on those aspects of the draft that you are less happy with. Do you think your success in this area may relate to how, where, and when you wrote it?
Group Work: (12 mins)
- In groups of 3, I want you to share your journal responses with one another and come up with a group statement the does the following: 1) Articulates the various conditions under which you wrote this draft and 2) Summarize what you like and do not like about your current drafts?
Class Discussion of Statements:
- 10 minutes
Mini-Lecture on Proofreading
Workshopping: (30 mins)
- Today we will begin workshopping papers. You will receive a grade for the quality of your proofreading;
- We proofread for Form and Content, and never for everything all at once. If something looks fishy, put a check mark next to it. It will be the author’s responsibility to correct that mistake. We are all entirely responsible for the quality of our own work
